The Art of Service

“Helping, fixing, and serving represent three different ways of seeing life. When you help, you see life as weak. when you fix, you see life as broken. When you serve, you see life as whole. Fixing and helping may be the work of the ego, and service the work of the soul.”

- Rachel Naomi Remen

I truly believe we have a purpose in this life. Whether we catch on to it or not is the biggest and most controversial thing we will do in our lifetime. I've idolized people who know exactly where their passion lies from the get-go. For me, well, I know I'm here to serve, connect with others and love the heck out of ALL things. There's almost this internal high when I'm in my element of service. I don't worry about anything besides the 'job' at hand, which doesn't seem like a job at all. Unfortunately, in the world of America, we are labeled for the purpose of income and money. Living for enjoyment is made impossible for some because we are not given the freedom to create or just be. We work day in and day out for the higher man all to rank a little higher on the hierarchy scale. Often times we never get there and instead we're left feeling burnt out, scrambled, and completely lost. I believe this occurs not because we aren't trying hard enough, but we are drawn away from our source, our deepest passion.

There's a greater purpose for me. Sitting in my little home studio, I'm frustrated by the lack of connection I have with the outside world. I am a dreamer, a doer, and a diligent worker when I truly care about the work I do. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm in the right place and career, it's just not fully loaded yet. I have so much more to uncover, so that I can unleash it to the rest of the world in a way for people to follow and understand. And with this I think other care-givers, humanitarians and activists can relate.

So let me ask you this: when you go out into the world do you hear the chatter? I mean truly hear it? It's as if you can actually feel the noise deep within you. THAT is OUR energy. EVERYTHING is connected to you. WE are one with each other which includes the trees, mountains, ocean, and soft breeze against our cheeks. Unlike other mammals humans seem to be running away from their instincts. The fight for MORE gets us in trouble. The truth behind purpose and life as a whole can be skewed by false promises and expectations that is typically coming from other money-greedy people. Overall, there's a big divide and disconnect with natural world that I want to plug back in!

So, as I venture on this Ridgeline path, I have 3 missions in mind:

  1. Inspire a life full of movement in the great outdoors.

  2. Encompass a more regenerative and artistic style of living within my community.

  3. Enrich my personal life with wholesome relations to all living things with hopes to begin a homesteading endeavor with my husband and future family.

With that said, these dreams would not be possible without the love and support from YOU, my friend. As we transition from Winter to Spring I will be making some changes. Near the start of summer, I will be cutting back on my personal training services. However, there's greatness to downsizing. I can focus more attention on specific year-round programs and I will be able to offer both online and in-person classes together!

Recently, I have gained a new opportunity as a Program Director with Court Street Arts, a local non-profit corporation! I'm beyond ecstatic to connect with people at such a deep level to help support the local community where I grew up. Talk about full circle. The Alumni Hall where my new stomping grounds will be is directly next to my old childhood home. Crazy! The Court Street Arts mission statement states: "Court Street Arts at Alumni Hall is where art and community come together. It is a place to spark the imagination, build community and enrich the lives of people throughout the region." I have an enormous amount of gratitude to have this ability to connect with all walks of life while also accelerating toward making the world a better and brighter place to be.
