Where does the time go?

I'm not sure if it's just me or the world is just spinning around the sun a little faster these days. There never seems to be enough time and when there is, it disappears in a blink of an eye. Every second the universe, everything within and around us, is growing older. We go through the day, not truly recognizing this until we glance in the mirror 20 years later and notice a new person looking back at us.

Often times we tend to miss the small stuff and we carry these huge responsibilities, worry, doubt, stress etc. on our shoulders. And with each day it sinks us a little deeper into the earth. This is the way of life. We're all just a compost pile waiting to be buried and mixed in with the dirt. So this heavy stuff we carry, is truly just a bunch of hogwash... It's a way to make you feel like life is heavy, which can be true, but only if we think of it that way.

My stress, this extra weight on my shoulders comes from this lack of time that I think I don't have. I'm always itching to get one thing done, then another thing comes up... and another and another and then before I know it, another day, month, year passes by. Where does this time go? Is a common question I ask myself on the daily. But here's the best explanation I found online by Marty Frolick:

...

"Is this a question about the physics of time or about the human perception of time? In physics, time does not go anywhere. Time is a construct or a dimension that things move through. In other words, it is something we use to measure changes in things we observe. It is quite possible that the perception of time is entirely a product of human consciousness, invented by our brains to help us interpret the universe around us. In physics, time seems to be an interesting bystander that can be reversed easily, and even eliminated without any trouble at all but this does not match with our experience of reality.

In terms of the human experience, the question we ask after a wonderful vacation, or while reminiscing about a lifetime in our old age, “Where did the time go?” is really just a matter of personal experience. Humans make terrible clocks. We can’t perceive time in a quantitative way that is reliable. We know we move forward in time but the rate seems to depend on our state of mind. Time flies when we are having fun, and the trip back home always seems shorter than the trip there. These are common experiences but they are not measurable in any way. In fact, if we do try to measure the time in such cases, it comes out exactly the same - time is the same when you are having fun and when you are miserable! That is certainly not the way it feels but how do you argue with the numbers? I think our experience of time is definitely a construct of our minds and allows us to detect changes in our environment.

In physics, everything can be understood as energy changes. A rock can sit for eons and never change but we can use energy to move it. Once it is moves, it is in a new state that is different from the old. When we see changes in the state of energy, we perceive it as time, conceiving of a past and a future but really, there is no time but the present!"

On that note, I'm learning to take the time to embrace this life for what it is worth. Time is relative and isn't a thing that simply disappears, time is the moment of which we lived, and what it leaves behind are our precious memories we put into our minds. We are creatures of this earth, little bundles of energy that have an awful lot of power compared to other creatures. With this power we tend to hold deep thoughts and feelings. Utilize what you have - good & bad - in an uplifting way because after-all time is on your side! You are capable of real things and you can accomplish a whole lot in the span of your lifetime... which is RIGHT NOW!
